Next Mazatlan Bird Festival to be held in January 2011. Despite the resounding success of the first Mazatlan Bird Festival, Sendero Mexico and their sponsors have decided to transfer all current efforts in the organization of this important event to January 2011 instead of 2010. Mexico's tourism industry and economy have faced a large challenge with the international recession and the H1N1 flu scare. This has caused some rescheduling of funding for special niche sectors such as birding. We regret to inform this to the many people who had already planned to attend. However, funds for 60% of the festival needs have already been scheduled by the Federal and Sinaloa governments of Mexico for the 2011 event and with the efforts of Pronatura Noroeste and Sendero Mexico a successful and fun Mazatlan Bird Festival is in the horizon again.
